Lithuania's outgoing Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas, the leader of the Social Democrats, is travelling to Madrid on Sunday to attend a congress of the council of the Party of European Socialists.

The government's press service reported that during the three-day visit, Mr. Kirkilas also plans to meet with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and other heads-of-state to discuss energy security, the European Union's future and relations between the EU and Russia.
